My Travel Blog: Journey with Hutch
I’m Hutch, travel nut, storyteller, and proud member of the “Seasoned but Still Kickin’” club.
At 65, I’m out to prove that adventure doesn’t retire when you do. Whether you’re dreaming of sandy beaches, quirky roadside attractions, or budget travel for seniors looking for budget-friendly bucket-list trips, I’m here to help you make it happen, without selling your kidney to afford it.
So welcome! You’ve just stumbled into a corner of the internet where budget travel meets belly laughs, and where age is just a number (that gets you the senior discount).
What This Blog Is All About
Think of Just Ole Hutch as your travel buddy with a few more laugh lines and a lot more experience. I write this blog for folks who:
Want to travel smart, not spendy
Like practical tips with a sprinkle of humor
Are 40+, retired, semi-retired, or just tired of expensive, overhyped advice
Appreciate real talk over polished travel fluff
You’ll find posts on:
Hidden-gem destinations and affordable hotspots (yep, even on Social Security)
Packing checklists and what not to lug across the globe
Budget travel tips that actually work, no magic beans required
Stories from the road, including the good, the bad, and the “what-was-I-thinking?”
Cultural tips to help you fit in without feeling lost
Why I’m Doing This
Every trip I take feels like unwrapping a surprise. (Sometimes it’s chocolate. Sometimes it’s a rooster outside your hostel window at 3 a.m.) Either way, I get a kick out of sharing what I learn so other folks, like you, can travel smarter, laugh harder, and maybe even skip the rooster part.
Travel is one of the best teachers out there, and I’m just passing the notes.
What Makes This Blog Different?
This isn’t some influencer paradise with filtered photos and $800 suitcases. This is real travel for real people, especially us “older” folks who still have some wild left in us.
At Just Ole Hutch, we:
Keep it honest (and hopefully a little funny)
Share wins and “oops” moments
Offer real tips, not regurgitated fluff
Build community, because travel’s better when we share it
